History

Happenings Party Rentals was the brainchild of Karen Burland. Started in May 1989, on Stewart Road. After five years, Karen sold half her shares to Mike Carleton a kid fresh out of Georgian College with a diploma in Business Administration. Armed with a little experience and a strong work ethic they set out to grow the business. Happenings started to purchase some party tents to go along with the inventory of tables, chairs, dishes and glassware.

With the popularity of outdoor weddings, special events and festivals that take place in Collingwood and surrounding communities business continued to boom. Happenings was growing its inventory to keep pace with the wants of its clients.

After 14 years in the industry Karen Burland decided to pursue a new career path and sold her shares to Mike Carleton who is now the sole owner of the company.

Michael Carleton, the owner of Happenings Party Rentals, received the Young Entrepreneur of the Year Award in 1999.

It is our goal to supply innovative party equipment, products, and ideas to our clients to assist in creating unique and memorable Happenings for themselves and their guests. By keeping current with the new trends in the special events industry and by continually educating ourselves, we provide our clients with superior customer service, quality rental inventory and invaluable party planning knowledge.
